Chemical-terrorism Vulnerability (CVI) Information Procedures Manual

The Department of Homeland Security has officially posted on its website information about the CVI guidance manual. The site is http://www.dhs.gov/xprevprot/programs/gc_1169501486179.shtm  There have been many changes to the guidance since the last review and they all seem positive.  DHS has addressed the issue of sharing CVI information with State or local officials, clarified the meaning of "need to know", eliminated the possible use of CVI tracking numbers, and in general provided more detail on what is or is not CVI material.  This guide should clear up some of the confusion around CVI.

"Important Announcement"

We are excited to announce to you that in an effort to better help fight crime in the oil patch and the entire energy sector, your Energy Security Council is launching a new Energy Crime Stoppers hotline.  This new program went "live" July 1st and is being done in partnership with Crime Stoppers programs across the state of Texas.

The hotline number for Energy Crime Stoppers is 888-645-TIPS (8477).

Press Release

ESC is different than other trade organizations because of an ongoing relationship with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.   ESC's Law Enforcement Liaison Committee provides free training to law enforcement and partner with them in helping protect the energy sector, specifically in the energy producing states of the U.S.
